(Participants’ advice to others considering the program)
Challenging Work/Develop Study Skills
- I would tell them to be prepared for the work, and make yourself able to accept changes in your usual task, but do not be afraid to embrace the process or have fun
- I would say take it seriously and stay focused in all of your subjects, and seek help when you need it.
- The student will need to be prepared to study during the program. The program is not easy, but it will help you succeed.
- Be prepared for a rigorous 7 weeks and work hard in each of your classes.
- I would tell one do not take the experience lightly. One can be successful if they are willing to work harder than they ever before. They would use time seriously and listen to the advice peers have.
- Be ready to give all your time & energy if you want to succeed in the program. It will benefit tremendously in the fall.
- Be well prepared in class. Love to study as a group. Willing to help and get help from other people, obey the policies.
- Take it seriously; try your best; study; use your peers to help you (i.e. study groups).
- Join!!! Pay attention in all your classes, take good notes and save them for fall quarter, have an open mind, have the will to succeed and get your younger sibling involved
- To not join if they are not willing to work hard for 7 weeks of their summer.
- Be focused and do not fall behind b/c most likely you will not catch up.
- If you are willing to work hard then you should come. But if you just want to relax and be lazy, the program is not for you.
Ease of Transition to UC
- I would tell them to join it, especially if they were coming from out-of-state. You get the opportunity to meet many people, so you know people once school starts. You become very familiar with the campus, so you become more prepared to start off at UC.
- It is a wonderful opportunity to get an idea of [where] college courses is going to be held and a huge advantage once classes start. You have met new people, already learned some of the materials and learned the campus.
- Join. The E3 program gives you the insight to college life. You can prepare yourself mentally for the college course load. And, adjust to the college environment. Very beneficial.
- I would tell them to without a doubt take it. The program I feel greatly prepared me and made starting college in engineering so much easier.
- They should enter this program because what you learn in the summer will fully prepare you for the

- I would tell them to attend the program. The UC/E3 Summer Bridge program helped me to be acquainted with the university campus, prepare for the college mindset, and network a support group of peers in order to succeed in the Engineering program.
- This is a really good program to let students in. They should have a program like this for all majors. This helped me to get a feel for college life and I am no longer afraid to be in this setting.
- Very helpful. It allows you to get a head start on the classes you will be taking in the fall, keeping the material fresh in your head
Worthwhile/Great Opportunity
- I would personally tell someone considering this program to be aware that the things you may be sacrificing to be a part of this program can never amount to what you will get from it.
- Give it a trial.
- That they should definitely attend this program. Even though it comes with sacrifices, the rewards you can gain are well worth the sacrifices.
- I would tell them to participate in the program because not only will you will learn a lot and be ahead of others in the fall. You meet great, new people, who you know you can get help from and [form] study groups with.

Requires Discipline/Follow Rules
- Be well prepared in class. Love to study as a group. Willing to help and get help from other people, obey the policies.
- I would tell them that it is a very time consuming program and strict (curfews, etc.). But it will prepare you for the collegiate experience.
- Do not take for granted the opportunity to participate, compete, and excel in the program. Be mindful of ALL rules and regulations at ALL times. Do not be late to class.
